DIY Gumption - A low-tox cleaner for your ML mats!

We all know how dirty our Marmalade Lion Splat Mats can get! Getting dirty is part and parcel of messy play, and messy play equals big fun and a wonderful childhood for our littlest ones!

Keep your home and play surfaces clean, germ-free and sweet smelling with no nasties with our DIY gumption recipe.

Use this natural cleaner to remove stubborn grime off your Marmalade Lion Splat Mats and Play Mats! Not only that, but this recipe can even clean your bathroom, kitchen, and toys– any surface really, AND safely!

With low-tox, natural ingredients that you can easily find, this cleaner is an excellent alternative to anti-bacterial sprays and wipes (hello, chemicals and waste) when you don't want to machine wash your ML mats.

If you want to give your mat a little refresh, then give this gumption recipe a go!

What you need

1/2 cup bicarb soda

1/4 cup castile soap

1 tsp salt

15 drops Onguard essential oil*

15 drops lemongrass essential oil

Dry cloth

Wet cloth (we used face washers)

*If you don't have access to this blend, substitute with drops of pure lemon essential oil (to kill bacteria) or clove essential oil (works wonders on mould), or a blend of both!

How to make your low-tox gumption -

Pour all ingredients into a small bowl

Mix around until a paste forms

Spoon into a reusable glass jar

Pop a spoonful onto your mat or surface

Scrub area gently using a dry cloth (to maintain your Splat Mat's TPU coating, be gentle! If you're cleaning bathtubs, stovetops or tiles-- feel free to add some muscle!)

Wipe off gumption using a wet cloth until sparkling clean!

Keep in the glass jar and use it as you need, so you can let your little people get messy without any worries.
