Throughout a child’s early years, one of the things we will all be confronted with is cleaning up spills…… everywhere! Whether it’s changing nappies, wiping up little accidents, or overnight escapes, it is absolutely guaranteed to happen to every parent.

Newborn babies have very limited vision for the first 6 months of their lives as their retinas slowly develop. Unlike the adult eye, a developing retina will generally not see subtle shades of colour but can only detect large contrasts between light and dark, and because of this you will find that a newborn with be highly attracted to black and white patterns.

Our fabulous creative director Alicia has been hard at work coming up with some new products and prints to add to the ever expanding Marmalade Lion range. All of our new products generally start with a moment of 'I wish I had (..). That would make my life so much easier!' as Alicia is running around after her two children.

Nesting is a big part of the later stages of pregnancy and a time for soon to be parents to prepare for the greatly anticipated arrival of the new baby! Yay!

But it’s not only about preparing the home so that it is a suitable environment for a newborn – we must also prepare for the mental challenges that come with living with a newborn.

One of the things that you will probably be told over and over again by helpful friends, mums and otherwise interested parties, is to make sure that your home is spotless to ensure that bubs is in a germ free and hygienic environment. That’s all very well pre-birth, as getting your home spick-and-span is all part of the natural nesting instinct that happens in the lead-up to giving birth.
